Driscoll’s Brings the World of Berries Closer to Asian Consumers

As demand for premium fresh berries continues to rise across Asia, Driscoll’s, the California-headquartered company, is strengthening its supply model for the region — combining globally sourced berries with more localized production and logistics capabilities, to bring consumers fresh, great-tasting berries across seasons and markets.

“Asia is an exciting and fast-growing region for fresh berries,” said Andy Suh, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Rest of Asia at Driscoll’s, “Our role is to bring the best of Driscoll’s global berry expertise closer to consumers here. Ultimately, we want more people to enjoy berries as a natural, everyday choice.”

A global berry network, closer to Asia

Driscoll’s strategy is built on both global reach and regional responsiveness. The company’s berries are grown in multiple countries and supplied to consumers across major global markets, allowing Driscoll’s to serve Asia with a diversified sourcing base rather than relying on a single origin.

Driscoll’s has also taken steps to improve supply-chain efficiency by shifting part of its supply from long-haul air freight to shorter regional routes. “Moving part of the Asia supply closer to the region has helped improve both freshness and consistency,” adds Suh.

This regional approach is also expanding. In Laos, Driscoll’s-branded blueberries with international grower partner are now in markets like Singapore, Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur etc. The farm started with 17 hectares and is expected to expand to 200 hectares by 2028.

Alongside its global sourcing network, China has become an increasingly important regional supply base. Entering China in 2013, Driscoll’s has developed berry operations in Yunnan Province, where highland conditions support quality berry production and where the company applied a globally aligned system across entire value chain including cultivation, quality control, cold chain and market distribution.

Driscoll’s Yunnan production area exported more than 2,500 tons of berries from January to May in 2026, with export value exceeding RMB 200 million, representing year-on-year growth of more than 40%. It is a broader shift in Asia’s fresh produce supply chain: premium fruits are no longer moving only from long-distance producing countries into Asia, but also across Asia itself.

Driscoll’s applies a globally consistent food safety standards in Asia, anchored in rigorous training, standardized farming practices, and strict quality controls at every stage of the value chain—from farm to fork—while ensuring compliance with both local regulations and destination market requirements. Supported by internationally recognized certifications such as the GLOBALG.A.P, this integrated approach helps deliver safe, high-quality berries to consumers while maintaining the consistency and integrity of the Driscoll’s brand worldwide.

Year-round supply to Meet Asia’s Growing Appetite for Berries

As Asian consumers show growing interest in healthier snacking, premium fresh fruit and everyday wellness, berries are becoming a more regular part of daily consumption.

In 2026, Driscoll’s is further strengthening its berry patch across Asia. In Yunnan, production of its summer strawberries continues to expand, supporting supply from May through October. At the same time, following the successful introduction of raspberries and blackberries to Asian markets in late 2025, the company is steadily increasing their availability across the region to meet consumer’s growing appetite.

To support category growth and consumer engagement, Driscoll’s launched its major regional brand campaign, Driscoll’s Time Anytime, across key markets including Hong Kong, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. The campaign positions berries as a natural part of everyday life -- from breakfast and snacking to family moments—reinforcing a more lifestyle-driven brand positioning while driving stronger consumer engagement across Asia.

At the same time, Driscoll’s is strengthening its presence across Asia through its established footprint in Bangkok and Jakarta, while expanding into high potential in markets in countries and regions including Taiwan, Japan and Vietnam.
